FAQs

What is catnip made from?

Catnip is a plant in the Lamiaceae family of flowering plants.  You may be familiar with its cousins, peppermint and spearmint. Its fancy name is Nepeta Cataria.

What is nepetelactone?

This is the organic compound found in catnip that makes it so darn appealing to kitties.  They love to sniff and ingest it as well!

What is Silver Vine?

Silver Vine is a plant in the Actinidaceae family, and is sometimes called matatabi or cat powder.  It has been used for medicinal benefits for centuries by humans. Similar to Catnip, it also contains terpenoids that cats find appealing.

Can my cat have too much catnip?

Nope - feel free to let your furbuddies imbibe as much as you (or they!) want!  Catnip is not addictive, but taking cute Instagram photos of your kitty enjoying a little nip time is!

How long can I store catnip?

You can store catnip in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight for up to 12 months, But we can’t imagine you wanting to keep it from your furbuddy that long - that’s just rude!

Is catnip safe for dogs?

Yes, actually catnip is quite safe for dogs - it acts as a sedative for our canine friends. With that being said and joking aside - if your dog has a habit of ingesting rocks, socks, or other bulky, non-digestible items, our nip pouches may be made from natural burlap, but that doesn’t make them safe for swallowing whole - please use care if you have a Labrador nicknamed Hoover or Dyson. Just sayin.
